51KPX5001
Overview: The Kicker KPX500.1 (51KPX5001) is a compact mono subwoofer amplifier that's part of Kicker's KPX line of small, weather-resistant amplifiers that can provide big sound without over-taxing your charging system. The KPX500.1's compact footprint make it perfect for motorcycles, UTVs, golf carts (12V), or any vehicle with limited space.
Power: The KPX500.1 amplifier features Class-D amp topology, allowing it to be more compact and able to run cooler than other types of amplifiers. The KPX500.1 features a single output channel that can provide 500W RMS x 1 @ 1-ohm (750W peak), 300W RMS x 1 @ 2-ohms, and 150W RMS x 1 @ 4-ohms.
Controls: All of the KPX500.1 controls are recessed into one end-panel and include a protective rubber cap to keep moisture and debris out. A small flat-blade screwdriver (not included) will be required for making adjustments to the controls.
- Turn-On: A push-button switch determines the amp activation type:
- DC Offset: Lets the amplifier power on when it detects a >2.5V DC offset on the speaker-level input wires. When DC Offset is On, the REM input terminal becomes a REM output (100mA) for activating any additional amplifiers in the system.
- +12V: The KPX500.1 will need to be activated by +12V on the REM input terminal.
- Hi Pass: A High-Pass filter dial lets you set the frequency of the built-in subsonic filter, with a range of 10-40Hz.
- Lo Pass: A Low-Pass filter dial lets you set the cutoff frequency, with a range of 40-160Hz.
- Bass Boost: Provides a 0-6dB boost at 40Hz.
- Input Level: Changes the input signal sensitivity range depending on the input type.
- Low Level: 125mV - 5V
- High Level: 1V - 40V
- Gain: Adjusts the input signal level (0-11).
- Remote Bass: A 3.5mm socket can be used with an optional CXARC wired remote (sold separately).
Wiring:
- Input: An attached 6" 4-pin harness terminated in a Molex connector provides the inputs for either high- or low-level signals. A matching harness with dual female RCAs can be used for low-level signals. If using speaker-level outputs from the radio, the RCA connectors can be cut off and wire connections made.
- Output: Dual set-screw terminals provide the mono speaker output, accommodating up to 12 AWG wire.
- Power/Ground: Set-screw terminals can accommodate up to 8 AWG wire (recommended) for both power and ground.
- Note: No fuse is included with the amplifier. A 60A fuse (sold separately) is recommended for the battery connection.
- REM: A set-screw terminal for activating the amp can accommodate up to 16 AWG wire. When the amp is set for DC Offset, this terminal becomes a +12V remote output, providing 100mA of power for activating additional amplifiers.
Mounting: Built-in flanges on each end of the KPX500.1 feature mounting holes on each corner for attaching the amp using the provided four 1" screws. The amp will require at least 4" of open ventilation around it for proper cooling.
