Installation: Each speaker pod is mounted on a post with a ball-joint for flexible positioning. When installing, a 9/16" diameter hole is drilled (typically in the dash or A-pillars), the wires and post are inserted, and a wing nut is tightened on the other side to hold the pod in place. Once the pods are mounted, the ball joints will tilt approximately 45° in any direction. The tweeters also revolve approximately 260° around the midrange, so they can be repositioned to the top, bottom, left, right, etc. (The direction of the tweeter is not changed.)
Crossover Networks: An in-line 2-way passive crossover is included for each speaker pod; 18 dB/octave high-pass for the tweeters and 6 dB/octave low-pass for the midrange. Two capacitors are also included, and need to be wired in-line before the 2-way crossovers if the amp powering the speaker pods doesn't have a compatible high-pass crossover built-in. Kicker recommends a 12 dB/octave high-pass electronic crossover at 400 Hz be applied to the signal supplied to the included 2-way passive crossovers. The included 51 μF capacitors are 6 dB/octave high-pass at approximately 800 Hz, offering a similar degree of protection. The 7" output wires attached to the 2-way crossovers are terminated with quick slides, which mate to the terminals on the 36" wires attached to the speaker pods. The 3" input wires are not terminated (tinned bare wire).
Bi-Amp: Because the pods have separate input wires feeding the midrange and tweeters, they can be actively crossed over and amplified separately. In this case the included crossovers are not used. (Keep in mind that if either driver sees a full range signal, its life will be very short.)
- two component speaker pods
- each tuned enclosure houses a 2-1/2" aluminum midrange driver and 1" silk dome tweeter
- inline crossovers (18 dB/octave tweeter, 6 dB/octave midrange)
- recommended power: 50 watts RMS (100 watts peak power)
- adjustability for universal application
