48PXA3001
Powersports Amplifier: The Kicker PXA300.1 (48PXA3001) powersports amplifier can provide up to 300 watts to a single output (1Ω). Designed for the outdoor environment, the compact PXA300.1 carries an IP66/IP67 waterproof rating, making it ideal for UTVs, off-road vehicles, or any space-challenged vehicle.
Class D Amplification: The PXA300.1 features state-of-the-art Class D amplification which provides ample power in a compact chassis. The mono amp can provide the following power output:
- 150 watts RMS x 1 @ 4 Ohms (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- 250 watts RMS x 1 @ 2 Ohms (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- 300 watts RMS x 1 @ 1 Ohm (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
Controls: All of the PXA300.1 controls are found on the bottom of the amp, protected from the elements by a watertight cover. The controls can be accessed by removing six Philips-head screws from the bottom access panel (screwdriver not included).
- Input Level: 2-position switch lets you select High (speaker-level) or Low (line-level)
- Input Gain Control: A rotary dial from 0 to 11; range from 125mV to 5V with the input level switch set to low; 1V to 40V with the input level switch set to high
- DIP Switches: A 4-switch DIP matrix lets you select a low-pass crossover frequency as well as activate the Bass Boost feature:
- Frequency: Switches 1&2 let you select a low-pass frequency: 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, and 120Hz.
- Bass Boost: Switch 3 lets you activate the Bass Boost feature, adding +6dB of boost centered at 40Hz.
- Switch #4: Not used.
LED Indicators: Two LEDs on the harness end of the amp will let you know the status of the amplifier. A Blue power LED will light to indicate the amp is powered On or Off. A Red protection LED can light to indicate a problem or fault in the system.
- Flickering: A flickering protection LED can indicate low-voltage from the battery, either from a low battery or a weak power/ground connection.
- On Solid: This can indicate Thermal Shutdown, if the amp gets too hot; Shorted speaker output; or Low Voltage, if the incoming power is not within the 10V-16V operating range.
Subsonic Filter: The PXA300.1 features a built-in subsonic filter fixed at 25Hz with a 24dB/octave slope.
Auto Turn-on: The amplifier has two methods of turning on: +12V and DC Offset. The preferred method is to run an 18-gauge wire from the remote turn-on lead of the source unit to the Remote (REM) wire on the amp. When a +12V signal is detected on the wire, the amplifier will turn on. If your source unit lacks a remote turn-on lead (a factory head unit, for example), you can choose to turn on the amplifier via the DC Offset method. When a DC offset is detected on the speaker-level inputs, the amplifier automatically turns on.
Wire Connections: The PXA300.1 has a built-in 10" harness that contains the bare-ended power, ground, turn-on (REM), and speaker outputs, as well as the RCA audio inputs and the optional wired remote input. Two wire couplers are included for safely adding additional power and ground wire to the 10" leads on the amplifier.
External Fuse: The amplifier does not include a built-in fuse, therefore an external fuse should be placed on the power wire, within 18" of the battery. It is recommended that a 4-gauge amplifier wiring kit and an 80-amp external fuse be used when installing the amplifier.
Note: Currently Kicker will extend the standard warranty by an additional year (for a total of three years) when a qualifying Kicker Installation Kit is purchased with the amplifier.
Input Signal: The PXA300.1 accepts either high (speaker-level) or low (line-level) input signals on the single pair of RCA inputs, selectable using the input level switch on the bottom of the amp. When using a speaker-level input signal, add the optional Kicker KiSL speaker-level to RCA adapter (sold separately). The input sensitivity is 125mV-5V (low) or 1V-40V (high).
Optional Remote Bass Level Control: The PXA300.1 amplifier can use the optional Kicker CXARC Remote Bass Level control (sold separately), letting you adjust the overall volume of the amp from the driver's location.
