A1500.1
Overview: The A1500.1 monoblock subwoofer amplifier is part of Audio Control's Altitude Series amplifiers, offering robust power, exceptional sound quality, and long-lasting durability. The amplifier features an anodized aluminum chassis that provides superior thermal dissipation with a sleek, modern look. The A1500.1 is EV compliant (up to 17-volts) and compatible with Start-Stop vehicles.
Class D Circuitry: The Audio Control A1500.1 subwoofer amplifier features Advanced HEXFET® power MOSFETs from International Rectifier that use advanced processing techniques to achieve extremely low on-resistance and fast, reliable switching speeds. A premium toroidal transformer and low ESR capacitors provide optimum efficiency with minimal power loss and signal distortion. Precision metal potentiometers for the audio adjustments allow for precise tuning.
Power: The Audio Control A1500.1 can provide the following RMS output power (@ 14.4 V):
- 600W x 1 @ 4-ohms
- 1200W x 1 @ 2-ohms
- 1500W x 1 @ 1.33-ohms (SPIKE mode)
Controls & Indicators: All of the A1500.1 controls are located under a protective panel. The panel can be removed using the provided 2.5mm Allen key. A slot-head screwdriver (not included) is needed to adjust the rotary controls. Amplifier controls include:
- Trigger Mode: A 3-way switch determines the activation method for the amplifier:
- Remote: Requires a 12 V signal on the Remote In terminal to activate the amp.
- GTO (Great Turn On) Signal Sense: This method activates the amp when it detects your headunit powering up, and deactivates when the headunit powers off. Channel 1 input must be used for GTO sensing to work.
- Audio: Activates the amplifier when an audio signal is detected on Channel 1 input, and will deactivate when no signal is present. This setting works well when you have your headunit on, but aren't playing anything, the amp won't be activated.
- Input Level: A 2-way switch sets the amplifier to work with either Low-level signals (500 mV-6 V) or High-level signals (1.5-20 V) using the LC Direct speaker-level input harness.
- Low Pass Crossover: A rotary dial lets you set the cutoff frequency of the Linkwitz-Riley Low Pass Crossover; 60-120 Hz range with a 12 dB/octave slope.
- Gain: This rotary gain control adjusts the overall level of the input signals.
- Max. Indicator: An LED next to the Gain dial will glow briefly during loud bursts of music when the gain has been set for optimum performance. If the Max. Indicator is frequently lit, the Gain may need to be lowered.
- Subsonic Filter: Filters frequencies below the optimal range; filter can be set from 0-50 Hz.
- ParaBASS: A rotary ParaBASS control lets you select a frequency between 40 and 80 Hz and use the corresponding Level dial to add up to 10 dB of boost at the selected frequency.
- Power LED: Illuminates White when the amplifier is powered on and working nominally.
- Protect LED: Illuminates Red if the amp detects a shorted speaker wire or an internal problem.
Valet Mode: A set-screw terminal on the amplifier lets you connect an optional rocker switch (sold separately) for activating Valet Mode. When switched on, this mode lowers the maximum volume of the amp to 25%, letting you hand over your vehicle to a parking valet or young driver without having to worry about the volume getting turned up too high and damaging speakers.
SPIKE Mode: The A1500.1 amplifier features Audio Control's unique SPIKE Mode that lets you connect three 4-ohm subwoofers in parallel for a 1.33-ohm load.
Note: When connecting the amplifier in SPIKE Mode, 1/0-gauge power and ground wires should be used and a 200A fuse placed in-line on the power wire.
Optional ACR-1 Wired Remote Control: The optional ACR-1 wired remote control (sold separately) lets you easily adjust the subwoofer level from the driver's seat. The ACR-1 can be mounted underneath a dash panel or console and includes a 20' connection cable with RJ-14 connectors.
Connections: The A1500.1 features set-screw wiring terminals that use the included 3mm Allen (hex) key for loosening/tightening. Connections include:
- Power & Ground: Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 2-gauge wire (4-gauge recommended; 1/0-gauge if connecting the amp in SPIKE Mode); Remote In terminal accepts up to 8-gauge wire (18-gauge is usually sufficient). The A1500.1 amplifier does not include any fuses; a 150A fuse (sold separately) should be placed in-line on the power wire, no more than 18" from the battery; if connecting the amp in SPIKE Mode, a 200A fuse should be used.
- Low-Level Inputs: A single pair of RCA jacks is provided for connecting the amp to the source unit via an RCA cable. The low-level inputs can accept audio signals from 500 mV to 6 V.
- Low-Level Outputs: A pair of RCA output jacks lets you pass the input signals out to an additional amplifier.
- LC Direct (Speaker-Level Inputs): A 16-pin connector with four wires provides the speaker-level inputs for connecting to a headunit without low-level (RCA) outputs. The speaker-level inputs can accept signals from 1.5-20 volts.
- Speaker Output: Two pairs of set-screw terminals, accepting wire up to 8-gauge, are provided for the mono output, letting you easily connect multiple subwoofers.
- RJ-14 Jack: An RJ-14 jack provides the connection for an optional ACR-1 wired remote (sold separately).
