48PXA10005
Powersports Amplifier: The Kicker PXA1000.5 (48PXA10005) 5-channel powersports amplifier can provide 100 watts x 4 (4Ω), 100 watt x 4 output (2Ω), along with a dedicated subwoofer output that can provide 500 watts x 1 (2Ω) or 600 watts x 1 (Ω),. Designed for the outdoor environment, the compact PXA1000.5 carries an IP66/IP67 waterproof rating, making it ideal for UTVs, off-road vehicles, or any space-challenged vehicle.
Class D Amplification: The PXA1000.5 features state-of-the-art Class D amplification which provides ample power in a compact chassis. The 5-channel amp can provide the following power output:
- Full-Range Amplifier:
- 100 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 Ohms (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- 100 watts RMS x 4 @ 2 Ohms (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- 200 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 Ohms bridged (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- Subwoofer Amplifier:
- 500 watts RMS x 1 @ 2 Ohms (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
- 600 watts RMS x 1 @ 1 Ohm (@14.4V, = 1% THD+N)
Inputs & Controls: Amplifier input channels are configured as Amp 1, Amp 2, and Sub Amp, each with 2 RCA inputs. All of the PXA1000.5 controls are found on the bottom of the amp, protected from the elements by a watertight cover. The controls can be accessed by removing six Philips-head screws from the bottom access panel (screwdriver not included).
- Input Gain Control (x3): Amps 1&2 and the Sub Amp include a rotary Gain control that goes from 0 to 11; range from 125mV to 5V with the input level switch set to low; 1V to 40V with the input level switch set to high.
- DIP Switches: 4-switch and 8-switch DIP matrices let you configure the amplifier:
- Input Level: 2-position switch lets you select High (speaker-level) or Low (line-level)
- Fader: 2-position switch (On/Off) gets set based on the number of RCA inputs being used: On, if running 2 sets of RCAs; Off, if using only one pair of RCAs to provide signal for all 4 channels.
- Sub Input: Determines which inputs will feed the Sub Amp; choices include Sub, when running dedicated subwoofer inputs, and Amp 2, which uses input signals on the Amp 2 input to also feed the Sub Amp.
- High-Pass Filter: Four DIP switches let you select a 24dB/octave high-pass filter for both Amp 1 and Amp 2; selections include 80Hz, 120Hz, and Off.
- Low-Pass Filter: Two DIP switches let you apply a 24dB/octave low-pass filter to the Sub Amp; selections include 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, and 120Hz.
- Bass Boost: This switch lets you activate the Bass Boost feature, adding +6dB of boost centered at 40Hz.
LED Indicators: Two LEDs on the harness end of the amp will let you know the status of the amplifier. A Blue power LED will light to indicate the amp is powered On or Off. A Red protection LED can light to indicate a problem or fault in the system.
- Flickering: A flickering protection LED can indicate low-voltage from the battery, either from a low battery or a weak power/ground connection.
- On Solid: This can indicate Thermal Shutdown, if the amp gets too hot; Shorted speaker output; or Low Voltage, if the incoming power is not within the 10V-16V operating range.
Auto Turn-on: The amplifier has two methods of turning on: +12V and DC Offset. The preferred method is to run an 18-gauge wire from the remote turn-on lead of the source unit to the Remote (REM) wire on the amp. When a +12V signal is detected on the wire, the amplifier will turn on. If your source unit lacks a remote turn-on lead (a factory head unit, for example), you can choose to turn on the amplifier via the DC Offset method. When a DC offset is detected on the speaker-level inputs, the amplifier automatically turns on.
Wire Connections: The PXA1000.5 has a built-in 10" harness that contains the bare-ended power, ground, turn-on (REM), and speaker outputs. The wire harness also contains the RCA audio inputs and the optional wired remote input. Two wire couplers are included for safely adding additional power and ground wire to the 10" leads on the amplifier.
External Fuse: The amplifier does not include a built-in fuse, therefore an external fuse should be placed on the power wire, within 18" of the battery. It is recommended that an 1/0-gauge amplifier wiring kit and a 150-amp external fuse be used when installing the amplifier.
Note: Currently Kicker will extend the standard warranty by an additional year (for a total of three years) when a qualifying Kicker Installation Kit is purchased with the amplifier.
Input Signal: The PXA1000.5 accepts either high (speaker-level) or low (line-level) input signals on the three pairs of RCA inputs, selectable using the input level switch on the bottom of the amp. When using a speaker-level input signal, add the optional Kicker KiSL speaker-level to RCA adapter (sold separately). The input sensitivity is 125mV-5V (low) or 1V-40V (high).
Optional Remote Bass Level Control: The PXA1000.5 amplifier can use the optional Kicker CXARC Remote Bass Level control, letting you adjust the Sub Amp volume output from the driver's location.
